    6/20/11 Ruck update

I really should post more often.

That said, I’ve got the black ruckus running and jetted. Then I decided that the carb placement was a giant pain in the ass. (It was, there was a long extended tube to get it moved in front of the front frame) The thing made a nice CLANK every time I sat down, so I decided to take it back apart and make some changes.

I’m currently stripping the paint from the rear frame and smoothing out some of my chunky grinding. From there, I’ll cut my Mojo mount back off and re-weld it a little further back on the frame so the carb will mount correctly. Sick of trying to find ways to get it to work when I should have done it right the first time.

Thinking about repainting the rear frame, seat frame and battery box a different color. Rattle can? Professional job? Maybe some candy flake? I’ll likely be easier to do it myself, so we’ll see what kind of colors I can pick up from Carquest at some point.

Finally ordered a muffler from a guy on TR. I need to pick up a hanger for it, but it’s a Yoshimura RS-3 that I’m going to cut down and polish. I may ever resleeve it, if I’m feeling particularly nutty.

    Progress.

    Ruckus update

Been putting off writing a build thread, since I’m not close to done yet. I may as well go ahead and post what I’ve been working on though.

Here’s what I’ve got sitting in my garage/coming soon:

    • Met front frame
    • Ruck triple tree
    • 150cc GY6 long-case from KS Power
    • stock seat bracket (chopped)
    • NCY front end disc setup
    • Ruck subframe
    • 12” GY6 wheels
    • Makoa GY6 harness
    • Mojo weld-on mount
    • Stock dual light setup
    • Black/Camo Battery box (Got both, haven’t figured out which one to use yet)
    • Strck Seat
    • Casket BMX stem
    • Black drag bars
    • Gas tank cover
    • PWJDM Pegs
    • Buzetti Kickstand
    • Stage6 fuel gauge
    • Stage6 air filter
    • Mikini fuel pump/mount

    Still need to find/buy:

    • Ignition cover

    Start:

Just a pile of new parts to install, plus I finally grinded a bunch of shit off of the rear frame - 4/2:

Chopped the stock seat frame down tonight. I still need to cut the rear tabs down and trim them to size, but it’s looking much better loooooow now.

Lookie what showed up from Alleykat (4/14/11):

Finally got my GY6 in from Nick at KS Power. On to mockup!

Holy shit, my mount point for the weld-on was a little off. The shock (with extension) was about five inches away from where it should be. It would almost be laying down flat once I got the motor mounted. Can’t have that.

Grinded down the tack welds and moved things around. This is a little better:

    A view from the back:

Still need to finish mockup, get the carb mounted, etc. Then it’s off to get the motor mount welded in for good and paint! Getting there, slowly.

    Looks like it’s Ruck time.

I’m officially starting down another path of idiocy, which I’m self-proclaiming. I’m building a Ruckus with a GY6 swap from the ground up. With help from Al, who knows his shit, we’ll be tearing apart a perfectly good Honda Metropolitan to use the front frame/controls for my new build. All for the bargain price of $500.

Oh yeah, I’ve been busy.
Sorry.
